Our Curriculum
Building Strong Foundations for the Future
Earley St Peter's CE Primary School has designed its curriculum to enable children and young people to experience “life in all its fullness” by offering a well-structured, logical, and meaningful educational journey. We believe that a clearly sequenced framework, which outlines the progression of knowledge and skills at each stage, is essential for pupils to succeed in their learning and achieve their full potential.
Our vision of Building Strong Foundations for the Future guides everything we do, placing a high value on excellent learning and pastoral care for both pupils and staff. We are dedicated to fostering an open and welcoming environment that supports the academic, personal and spiritual development of every pupil. Beyond the core benefits, a well-designed and robust curriculum offers numerous additional advantages, such as:
- Promoting strong pupil outcomes
- Encouraging sustained improvement in behaviour and attitudes
- Delivering targeted interventions to support pupils with SEND or those who are vulnerable
- Enhancing pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development
- Ensuring a manageable workload for staff
- Supporting purposeful and effective Continuous Professional Learning and Development (CPLD) for staff
For these reasons, we prioritise creating a well-structured and effective curriculum that meets the unique needs of our pupils in a nurturing and supportive environment. Our intent is to provide a high-quality education that equips pupils with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life beyond school.

Curriculum Impact
We recognise that a well-planned curriculum plays a vital role in pupils’ learning and achievement. Our curriculum aims to provide a broad range of enriching and varied learning experiences, enabling pupils to develop their cultural capital. By engaging with a wide array of subjects, pupils gradually acquire subject-specific knowledge and skills, allowing them to progress from beginners to confident, proficient learners.
Our approach includes ample opportunities for overlearning, retrieval practice, and regular assessment to ensure pupils thoroughly understand and retain the knowledge and concepts taught. We place a strong emphasis on vocabulary development and language acquisition, ensuring that every pupil—regardless of their background or individual challenges—can access the curriculum and build a secure foundation for learning.
By prioritising these key elements, we ensure that all pupils are well-prepared to reach their full potential and succeed both academically and personally, within school and beyond.
